Evolution and Adaptation: The Future of International Arbitration
ICCA 2018 Congress will be held in Sydney from 15-18 April 2018. The AMINZ-ICCA International Arbitration Day will follow on 19-20 April, with these events positioned in succession to allow delegates to attend both the main Sydney Congress and the New Zealand event afterwards, capitalising on the fact that this will be the first time that the ICCA Congress has been hosted in the Oceanic region.
What is the ICCA Congress?
The ICCA Congress is a biennial event held around the world for the presentation and discussion of papers on different aspects of international dispute resolution. It is widely considered the premier International Arbitration Conference in the year which it is held, attracting high delegate numbers from across the globe and making a significant contribution to the development of dispute resolution theory and practice. The first ICCA Congress took place in Paris in 1961.
ICCA is pleased to present the preliminary programme for the 24th ICCA Congress, which is themed Evolution and Adaptation: The Future of International Arbitration.
Some programme highlights include:
- A “hot topics” panel discussion, canvassing the latest controversies, newest decisions and boldest proposals of 2018. Congress delegates will be invited in advance to suggest “breaking news” topics for the panel’s consideration.
- A “TED Talk” style luncheon, where leading arbitrators will offer their personal reflections on the past, present and future of their careers and of arbitration itself. Questions and observations from the floor will be encouraged.
- A panel discussion on the role of public bodies and public interests in arbitration processes, which will consider the role of arbitration as a public inquiry that regulates broader norms of fairness.
Speaker announcements will be made over the next few weeks, with the following programming now confirmed:
Monday, 16 April 2018
